The number of drug-dependent people has reportedly been decreasing in Tajikistan. 

Over the first six months of this year, 4,066 drug-dependent have been registered officially in Tajikistan, which is 117 people or 2.8 percent fewer than in the same period last year, the Director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan Samad Zafar Taghoi told reporters in Dushanbe on July 29. 

At the same time, the drug control chief officer noted that the number of female drug addicts has increased over the reporting period by six people, reaching 109.  

According to data from the country’s counter-narcotics agency, currently there are 40.7 drug addicts per 100,000 population in Tajikistan. 

According to the drug control kingpin, the DCA is actively collaborating with ministries and agencies to promote health lifestyle in the country.
