Tajik industry minister invites Central Asia’s nations to invest in Tajikistan’s mining sector

Uzbekistan’s National Exhibition Company Uzexportcentre has hosted the second international industrial exhibition, dubbed INNOPROM-2022: Central Asia — Space for a Technical Breakthrough.

Uzbek media reports say more than 200 companies and business delegations from Russia, Uzbekistan, France, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany and some other countries are participating in the exhibition that kicked off on April 25 and runs through April 27.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the event is reportedly aimed at expanding industrial cooperation between participating countries and companies, identifying new opportunities for industrial development and the launch of joint ventures.

Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, participated in the main plenary session that took place on April 25.

Speaking at the session, Kabir noted that Tajikistan has great potential for development of the mining sector, has good legal foundation and is making a breakthrough in improvement of the investment climate.

The minister emphasized that mountains that cover 93 percent of Tajikistan's surface area contain almost the entire periodic table of the elements.

He invited Central Asia’s nations to invest in Tajikistan’s mining sector.  “We need investments and technologies and we are ready to collaborate with all countries of the region,” Kabir said.

According to him, Tajikistan has had the highest industrial growth rate among the CIS countries over the past two year – more than 20 percent.

The minister noted that the government of Tajikistan had announced a five-year plan of industrialization of the country with a two-fold increase in the industrial production.

“This is a very ambitious plan and its fulfillment is doubtful without restoration of historical cooperative ties and interaction with historical partner,” Kabir added.

In a statement delivered the Future Minerals Summit that took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 11-13 this year, Sherali Kabir stated that Tajikistan has rich mineral resources that are enough for the development of the industry in the long term.
