The press center of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR) says Tajikistan and Pakistan are interested in expanding cooperation in the water-energy sector, advancing the CASA-1000 Project, and establishing power transmission lines between the two countries.

This was reportedly discussed during a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and Pakistan’s Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority, Sajjad Ghani, in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on December 13 as part of the 7th session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

Both parties emphasized the timely implementation of the CASA-1000 project, which aims to link Central and South Asia, according to the Tajik Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.

The Pakistani side received an invitation to participate in the International Conference on Glacier Conservation, scheduled for May 2025 in Dushanbe.

During a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, the importance of expanding cooperation to utilize Pakistan’s seaports and existing transit networks for boosting Tajikistan’s regional trade was highlighted.

Key topics included discussing new transport routes via the Wakhan Corridor and increasing the number of direct flights between Dushanbe and Islamabad. Both sides agreed these initiatives would bring economic benefits and strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

Additionally, Juma held talks with the President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nasir Qureshi, and the Federal Minister for Privatization, Abdul Aleem Khan.
