shows interest in participation in the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station in
Tajikistan

Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov told journalists this in
Dushanbe
on May 25 after the meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of Government.
According to him, the
Dushanbe
meeting of the CIS government heads did not considered the issue of participation of the CIS states in the implementation of the hydropower projects. “The possibility of participation of
Kazakhstan
in funding the Roghun project has been considered in a bilateral format and
Kazakhstan
has shown interest in participation in this project,” Tajik premier said.
He noted that at present the Sangtuda-1 power plant project was being implemented in
Tajikistan
with participation of the Russian “United Energy System of Russia” (RAO YeES) energy holding.
“We have also received proposals from many international finance institutions and foreign countries on the construction of small power plants on the
Zarafshon
River
in northern
Tajikistan
,” Mr. Oqilov said.
