Radio Asia-Plus once again leads all radio stations in Tajikistan in weekly audience reach.

This is according to an independent 2024 study conducted by Yori Marketing Sanoat.

According to the results, 6.8% of urban residents aged 15 and older listen to Radio Asia-Plus at least once a week.  This is the highest reach among more than 20 radio stations in the country, including both national and regional broadcasters.

In second place is Radio Vatan (5.5%), followed by Radio Imrouz (5.1%).

The study used the Day After Recall method, where respondents are asked to recall what they listened to the previous day.  This method provides more accurate data about actual listening habits, minimizing brand recognition bias.

The survey covered residents aged 15+ in the 9 largest cities of Tajikistan.  Each quarter, 700 households were interviewed, with an equal gender split. According to the data, 44% of respondents listen to the radio daily.

What does this mean for advertisers?

  • Maximum Reach: Radio Asia-Plus is an effective channel for connecting with active urban audiences.
  • Reliable Platform: With consistent ratings and high brand recognition, it’s an ideal choice for advertising campaigns.
  • Up-to-Date Data: The study confirms that advertising on “Asia-Plus” is guaranteed to reach the widest possible audience.

Through hardship to the stars

The story of Radio Asia-Plus began many years ago.  In 1998, the team received a UNESCO grant to create Tajikistan’s first independent FM station, but for more than four years, they were unable to obtain a broadcasting license.

It was only after the personal intervention of President Emomali Rahmon that the issue was resolved.  On September 9, 2002, Asia-Plus went on air for the first time on 107 FM.

Since 2011, the station expanded its broadcast to the Sughd and Khatlon regions and later, via the internet, to audiences around the world.  The radio station regularly hosts major city events, concerts, and festivals, and holds the annual Tarona Music Award ceremony.

Today, a dedicated team of hosts, journalists, and editors work on the broadcasts, and Asia-Plus remains one of the most recognizable and beloved voices in the country.
