The number of pensioners in Tajikistan increased by over 21,000 in the first six months of 2025, bringing the total to more than 858,000.

As of July 1, 2025, Tajikistan officially recorded 858,191 pensioners, according to the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions under the Government of Tajikistan.  This marks an increase of 21,501 people since the beginning of the year — a 2.6% growth in the country’s pensioner population.

The average monthly pension in Tajikistan now stands at 470.62 somonis, though the amount varies depending on the type of pension: labor pension — 586.05 somonis; insurance pension — 470.57 somonis; social pension — 330.60 somonis.

Tajikistan’s pension system demonstrated stable performance in both coverage and financing during the second quarter of 2025.

In the first half of the year, the state budget for social insurance and pensions received 2.815 billion somonis through social insurance tax revenues — achieving 103.4% of the planned target.

The figures underscore a strengthening in pension system funding, reflecting improvements in tax collection efficiency and financial management within the country’s social support infrastructure.
