Tajikistan and the Belgian province of Flanders are negotiating cooperation in the light and textile industries, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, food industry, artificial intelligence, tourism and trade. The Belgian side was invited to participate in the upcoming events of the Ministry of Industry and the Dushanbe Invest 2025 International Investment Forum, which will be held in October.

A delegation of the Government of Flanders of the Kingdom of Belgium, headed by the Head of the Protocol and Administrative Department, Jill Willem Suetens, is on an official visit to Dushanbe. The delegation arrived on August 11 at the invitation of the executive body of the state authority of the capital, the visit will last until August 16.

The Belgian delegation held meetings with the leadership of the city of Dushanbe, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management, as well as with representatives of the National Academy of Sciences, the Committee for Tourism Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SUE Smart City and the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan.

At the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the light and textile industries, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, food industry and artificial intelligence. Following the talks, the Belgian side was invited to participate in future events of the Ministry in Tajikistan.

The State Committee for Investment and State Property Management presented to the guests the investment opportunities of the country, including in the field of tourism and trade. The delegation received an invitation to the Dushanbe Invest 2025 International Forum, which will be held in October.

To get acquainted with the history and culture of Tajikistan, the delegation will visit the National Museum, the Kohi Navruz complex, the Central Mosque, the Pilaf Center, the Mehrgon market, the Gissar fortress and the Varzob district. The program is aimed at developing cultural exchange and promoting the country's tourism potential.

Flanders is one of the most developed commercial and industrial regions of Belgium with major ports in Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent and Ostend. The population of the region is 6.8 million people, which is 58% of the country's population. In 2024, Flanders ranked 15th in the world in terms of exports, with chemicals, pharmaceuticals, transport, textiles, machinery, fruits, plastics and precious stones among the main destinations.

The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Flanders in 2024 amounted to more than 108 million euros, of which exports from Tajikistan amounted to 102.36 million euros, and from Flanders to 5.73 million euros.
