Vegetables have significantly increased in price in Tajikistan over the past year. The price of cabbage has increased the most – almost twice. Carrots, onions and potatoes also rose in price.

In August 2025, food prices in Tajikistan's markets changed in different directions, according to the World Food Program (WFP) in collaboration with Neksigol Mushovir.

The monitoring covers 5 large and 10 small markets in the country. The data is collected weekly by field registrars, after which the average price for each product is calculated.

Vegetables have risen in price the most in a year:

– cabbage + 85% (6.3 somoni per 1 kg);

– carrots + 31% (5.3 somoni per kg);

– onion + 27% (5.3 somoni per 1 kg).

A significant increase was also noted for meat:

– beef + 17% (93.2 somoni per kg);

– mutton + 22% (98.1 somoni per kg).

Oil:

– cotton + 12.6% (16.6 somoni per kg).

The prices of legumes and eggs have also changed:

– green peas + 11% (18.7 somoni per kg);

– peas + 3% (12.6 somoni per kg).

Animal products:

– eggs + 7% (19.2 somoni per dozen);

– chicken + 1% (35.6 somoni per kg).

But there is also good news – some products have become cheaper:

– wheat flour – 6% (5.2 somoni per kg);

– rice – 4% (17.8 somoni per kg);

– sugar – 3% (11.4 somoni per kg);

– milk – 1% (6.7 somoni per kg).

Separately, it is worth noting the situation on the labor market. The average wage for unskilled labor in August was 115 somoni per day, which is 31% higher than a year ago.

The lowest rates were recorded in Khorog and Rasht (100-104 somoni), and the highest in Dushanbe and Bokhtar (120 somoni).

Wages for skilled labor increased even more – by 85%, reaching an average of 149 somoni per day. The highest rates were recorded in Ishkashim (175 somoni), Istaravshan and Kulyab (160 somoni), as well as in Dushanbe and Khujand (156 somoni).
