MegaFon Tajikistan summarizes its 2025 tech achievements: network expansion and leadership in quality

Date:

In 2025, MegaFon Tajikistan significantly enhanced its telecommunications infrastructure by building more than 170 new sites and launching over 450 new 4G/LTE base stations, according to press release issued by the company. This expansion greatly improved mobile internet coverage and quality across the country. The company’s achievements have been confirmed by an independent study from DMTEL, which ranked MegaFon Tajikistan as the national leader in voice and data service quality.

Throughout the year, the operator’s engineers installed 4G base stations operating on the 800, 1800, 2300, and 2600 MHz bands. Utilizing diverse frequency ranges and increasing the number of base stations helped boost network capacity and deliver stable high-speed internet in both urban and remote areas.

To ensure network resilience in harsh weather conditions, 85 base stations were equipped with diesel generators and solar panels. More than 600 backup batteries were replaced at 232 sites, allowing connectivity to be maintained even during power outages.

The company also continued expanding its backbone fiber-optic infrastructure. In 2025, comprehensive equipment upgrades were carried out along the Khuroson–Bokhtar–Jayhun–Panj–Farkhor–Danghara–Nurek route, boosting network capacity tenfold.

Similar upgrades were completed in Fayzobod and Obigarm, while fiber-optic construction on the Jilikul–Qubodiyon–Shahritous route is in its active phase. This project will enhance network reliability in southern regions. In Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), 17 microwave links were upgraded along the Vanj–Khorog route, increasing transmission capacity to 2 Gbps and significantly improving connectivity in mountainous areas.

In Dushanbe, nearly 50% of the transport network was upgraded, increasing its capacity tenfold. This upgrade supports stable internet performance under heavy load and provides the technological foundation for launching new digital services, including 5G. In 2025, the company activated six new fifth-generation base stations, giving users access to gigabit-speed data transfer.

These large-scale improvements earned MegaFon Tajikistan the title of network quality leader. According to an independent study by DMTEL conducted from May to August 2025 in Dushanbe, RRS, GBAO, Sughd, and Khatlon regions, the operator ranked first in overall voice and mobile data performance.

MegaFon Tajikistan achieved the country's best results in successful call completion rate (77.83%) and lowest dropped call rate (6.56%). The company also recorded the highest mobile data speeds — 9.66 Mbps download and 8.25 Mbps upload. According to the study, 82.17% of the testing route was covered by reliable 4G service from MegaFon Tajikistan.

“Our core mission is to provide all residents of Tajikistan with reliable connectivity. We are consistently developing our infrastructure and adopting the latest technologies. The year 2025 marked a major milestone: for hundreds of thousands of Tajiks, the digital future has become a reality,” said Anatoly Izyumnikov, CEO of MegaFon Tajikistan, summarizing the year.
