DUSHANBE, April 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  — By April 24, the spring conscription campaign has reached more than 75 percent of the target, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus on Friday.

In the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached were: Gorno Badakhshan – 83 percent; Khatlon – 82 percent; Sughd – 72.2 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 75.3 percent; and Dushanbe – 64.4 percent.

The city of Norak and the districts of Shugnan, Rushan, Murgab, Zafarobod, Baljuvon, Farkhor, Khovaling and Nosir Khusrav have already fulfilled their conscription targets, the spokesman said.

The spring conscription campaign is carried out from April through May, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
