DUSHANBE, February 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — Customs officers seized nearly 14 kilograms of heroin at the Dushanbe airport on February 26, the Customs Service press service said.
An inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight found 13.869 kilograms of heroin hidden in boiled sausages belonging to the 21-year-old resident of Dushanbe Faridoun Saydaliyev.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Saydaliyev and an investigation is under way.
It is already the second case of prevention by customs officers at the Dushanbe airport of transportation of narcotic drug to Russia by air this week, the press service said.
On Wednesday, inspection of passengers on the flight from Dushanbe to Novosibirsk found 270 grams of heroin hidden in the luggage belonging to the 27-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Qumsangir district Saodat Hakimova. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against her and an investigation is under way.
