DUSHANBE, February 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — Speaking at a republican conference dedicated to the 1310th anniversary of Al-Imam al-Azam Numan Thabit bi Zuta bin Mah, better known by his kunya as Abu Hanifa, President Emomali Rahmon, in particular, proposed to name Tajikistan’s Islamic Institute after Abu Hanifa Numan Thabit.
Abu Hanifa, (699-767 CE / 80-148 AH) was the founder of the Sunni Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence.
The president also charged to raise level of teaching at Islamic Institute to standards of internationally known religious institutes and appoint imam-khatibs at mosques from among Islamic Institute graduates.
