DUSHANBE, September 20, 2010, Asia-Plus /Nargis Hamroboyeva/ — German embassies in Central Asia’s countries jointly with German agencies and organizations operating in the region have organized 2010 Weeks of Germany in Central Asia.

In Dushanbe, Weeks of Germany were launched on September 20 Dushanbe with an exhibition telling operations of German organizations and their partners  in the country.   Among them are KfW, GTZ, DED, Caritas, German Agro Action, DAAD, ZfA, German Language Center, etc.

Visitors could familiarize themselves with subjects such as health care, education, tourism, energy, environment, water, legal reform and so forth.  

Tajikistan got the status of partner country for German Development Cooperation in 2002 and since that time, development projects for Tajikistan for a total amount of 123.3 million euros have been approved.

Today, Tajikistan and Germany are cooperating in different fields and Germany has supported endorsement of health and education sectors in Tajikistan.  Besides, Germany is financing reconstruction/rehabilitation of switchyards of the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP).

Every year, the German Embassy in Dushanbe allocates funds to support implementation of small projects aimed at improving living conditions and reducing poverty in Tajikistan.  An average cost of one such project is 3,000-4,000 euros.

As it had been reported earlier, Days of German movie will be held at the Bactria Cultural Center in Dushanbe on September 22 and 24.  Four new German movies for children and teenagers aged 8 to 16 will be demonstrated: Emil and the Detectives; Sergeant Pepper; Children of the Moonlight; and Krabat.  A festival of German movies will be held at the Bactria Cultural Center from September 22 to November 12 and eight German movies will be demonstrated:  Four Minutes; The Lives of Others; My Friend; Gentle Melancholy – Child of War; Truth or Duty; Shouf Shouf Habibi; and Red Colored Grey Truck.

A rock concert of the German band Die Toten Hosen will take place at the Kokhi Borbad Complex in Dushanbe on September 27.

A conference of the DAAD alumni entitled “Islam and Society” will take place at the Dushanbe Ismaili Center on October 2.  An exhibition, Mosques in Germany, will be organized on sidelines of the conference.

A medical conference of alumni of the DAAD Program, Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgery for Oral Cavity, Oral Surgery in Tajikistan, will take place in Dushanbe on October 13-17.  Experts from Germany and Tajikistan will conduct the conference.
