Dushanbe. June 15. “Asia-Plus” — “Tajik Aluminum company” state unitary enterprise (Talco) will present the results of audit within the next few weeks, Talco told the AP.

According to the source, the results of the audit, which was carried out by the Moore Stephens auditing company, taking into account the results of revaluation of Talco’s assets prepared by the American Appraisal Inc. (AAR), will be published as soon as auditors compare the results of the audit and revaluation of assets of the company for a three-year period (2006-2007-2008).

Talco says it will take auditors from Moore Stephens a while to compare all the data and they confirmed it in their official letter of June 1 this year addressed to Talco. “Introduction of changes into the company’s three-year auditing activity will take time and economists who talk about current situation about the company should be aware of that,” the source has said, stressing that currently Talco is the only aluminum producing company which refrained from staff reduction policy during the global financial crisis and did not cut its social sphere.

“According to the results of the first quarter, even despite continuing crisis in aluminum sector, the company has invested more than $15m into the increase of production, thus, ensuring the 8% increase of production. This required extra taxes and improved macroeconomic indexes of the country,” the company said.

Tajik aluminum giant stressed that “there is an ongoing and targeted information campaign against Talco, which is conducted outside Tajikistan, and statements of some Tajik economists and experts give reasons and opportunity to Tajikistan’s “enemies” to double their anti-Talco efforts and efforts against the entire Tajik nation.”

“Today, Talco is the most transparent company in the country and such statements that the company ignores requests and applications contradict the reality. Last one-sided publications in a series of the Tajik media cause nothing but indignation. In their attempt to increase the circulation, editors of some newspapers are trying to stir up a scandal and completely ignore Talco’s view. Such publications undermine the image of the company inside the country and undermine the image of the state at the global arena. And, addressing the journalists who are trying to make sensation out of our audit, we can tell that they will get answers to all questions within the next 4-5 weeks when audit results are officially published,” Talco said.
