DUSHANBE. June 7. “Asia-Plus” — In their joint letter to Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov activists from the society of Tajiks of Kazakhstan urge Uzbek President to settle the problem with transit of cargo wagons to Tajikistan, the Tajik radio “Svoboda” reports.
“Many of us have relatives in Tajikistan and we do care for their destiny,” activists wrote in their letter, stressing that in the beginning of this year Tajik people faced with multiple difficulties connected with lack of electricity and fuel, natural disasters which caused severe economic damage and took many lives.
Authors of the message are also concerned with the fact that people can not rehabilitate their homes since construction materials and fuel remain in wagons which are blocked on the territory of Uzbekistan. One of members of the society of Tajiks of Kazakhstan Fathiddin Karimov believes that such attitude of Uzbek authorities has turned into traditional behavior despite the centuries-old ties that link the two nations.
