DUSHANBE, December 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — Deputy chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) yesterday met here with a delegation of participants of the Alfa Fellowship Program of the Alfa Bank (Russia), according to the CCI press service.
The delegation is led by A.N. Murashev, the president of by the Center for International Fellowships (Russia), and its members include representatives from the Center for International Fellowships and 12 fellows from universities of the united States and Great Britain.
The delegation has been in Tajikistan since December 14, and they have already held meetings at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the National Bank of Tajikistan and visited the city of Norak to this day.
During the meeting at CCI, guests were interested in issues related to mitigating effects of the global financial crisis in Tajikistan, hydropower generating capacity of Tajikistan and so froth, the CCI press service said.
The CCI leadership and Murashev reached an agreement on organization of training for Tajik specialists with enlisting the services of Russian experts.
The Alfa Fellowship Program participants are also scheduled to hold talks with representatives of the Center for Strategic Studies, Ministry of Energy and Industries and some other organizations.
The Alfa Fellowship Program is a high-level professional development exchange program placing qualified young professionals in work assignments at leading organizations in Russia in the fields of business, economics, journalism, law, and public policy. The program accepts 10 American citizens and 5 British citizens per year. Key goals of the Alfa Fellowship Program are expanding networks of American, British and Russian professionals, developing greater intercultural understanding, and advancing US/Russian and British/Russian relations. Participants of the program undergo training at institutions like the Higher School of Economics, the Expert Institute at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Carnegie Endowment, Echo Moskvy radio station, Expert magazine, Alfa Capital, TNK-BP, INDEM Foundation, and others.
The program, which was started in 2004, includes language training, seminar programs, and extended professional experience. Fellows receive travel, free housing, monthly stipends, and insurance.
