DUSHANBE, December 15, 2009, Asia-Plus — Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Mr. Sharif Said, yesterday met here with visiting director general of Daewoo International Corporation, Mr. Choi Ki Hwa, and director of the international department of Daewoo’s representative office in Uzbekistan, Mr. Bakhodir Atakhanov, the CCI press service reported.
The Daewoo top manager arrived in Tajikistan yesterday and the purpose of the visit is for him to get acquainted with the economic situation in Tajikistan and discuss opportunities of establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Speaking at the meeting, Choi noted that they counted on support of Tajikistan’s CCI and its recommendations on selecting business partners in Tajikistan. “Our corporation is ready to invest in energy projects in Tajikistan; Daewoo also intends to establish purchase of aluminum from Tajikistan,” he said, according to the press service.
For his part, Said noted that Tajikistan was interested in economic cooperation with Korea. He also offered the Daewoo top manager to open the company’s representative office in Tajikistan.
During their stay in Dushanbe, the Daewoo representatives are also scheduled to hold talks with senior representatives from the Ministry of Economic development and Trade, the Ministry of Energy and Industries as well as the top managers of the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO).
