About 6,000 foreigners will be expelled from Russia, reported Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk on her channel on the MAX platform. The violators were identified as a result of raids conducted by the police in conjunction with the FSB and the National Guard throughout March.
This time, special emphasis was placed on checking transport infrastructure facilities. In addition, the raids covered markets, warehouses, industrial areas, and places where foreign citizens reside. In total, more than 130,000 objects were inspected.
About 60,000 police officers were involved in the operations. To enhance the efficiency of the inspections, modern technologies, including drones, were used, noted Volk.
As a result of the raids, about 1,000 criminal cases were initiated, and 138 individuals on the wanted list were identified.
In addition, the police recorded 48,000 administrative violations. A total of 26,000 foreigners were held accountable, and fingerprinting procedures were conducted for 24,000 individuals.
As a result of the activities, a decision was made to expel about 6,000 foreign citizens, and entry into the country was closed for 7,700 foreigners, noted Volk.
However, the number of deportations may increase: State Duma deputies plan to almost double the list of grounds for expulsion — from 22 to 43 articles.
Among the new reasons being considered are violations of public order, refusal to comply with the demands of the police or National Guard, as well as creating obstacles for the operation of transport and other infrastructure.
It is separately proposed to include the dissemination of materials on the internet that “offend public morality,” as well as any public actions that can be regarded as discrediting the Russian army or calls for the imposition of sanctions against the country.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry, 72,000 foreigners were expelled from Russia in 2025.
