Dushanbe. December 10. Asia-Plus — Tajik Ministry of Agriculture has conducted a check analysis of the quality of cotton fiber produced by dekhkan farms in a series of cotton-growing regions of the country.

According to Saidmurod Bahriddinov, head of the Tajik Agriculture Ministry’s Crop Production Department, in the past 2-3 years the output of cotton fiber at cotton cleaning factories was registered at the level of 32.5% despite the fact that experts forecasted no less than 35-36%.

“This year’s analysis showed that the output of cotton fiber makes 39.5% and in some regions it reaches the level of 41-42% which is a very high index,” Bahriddinov stressed.

According to him, the analysis also helps farmers to understand the real value of their products. “This will let dekhkan farms have clear idea of the real value of the product, while cotton-cleaning factories will not be able to understate the cost of the product,” he stressed.

There are more than 50 cotton cleaning factories operating in Tajikistan today and all of them are private ones.

Cotton is cultivated in 33 regions of the republic where there are 25.000 cotton growing farms.
