Dushanbe. December 10. Asia-Plus — Tajik air carrier Somon Air has joined the Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) system in the Persian Gulf region.

According to the air carrier’s press service, the move will let Somon Air to expand the network of passenger carriage via the Accredited Passenger Agents of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the Persian Gulf countries, expand flights geography, route network, improve flight loading, distribution and set up the flight connection system.

BSP is a system designed to facilitate and simplify the selling, reporting and remitting procedures of IATA Accredited Passenger Sales Agents, as well as improve financial control and cash flow for BSP Airlines.

Somon Air has become Tajikistan’s first air carrier to join the BSP system which has such countries as Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE among its members. Nowadays the BSP system covers more than 160 countries and serving 400 airlines. More than 80% of airline tickets are sold via BSP. One of the principal benefits of the system is the use of the Standard Traffic Document. BSP allows agents to reduce administrative resources required for billing and collection, reduce printing for both airlines and agents with the use of neutral STDs and standard administrative forms. Furthermore, among other simplifications of the BSP system are such aspects that allow agents to issue one sales report and remit one amount to a central point, airlines receive one settlement covering all agents, Neutral Standard Traffic Documents (STDs) replace dedicated airline ticket stocks, agents’ sales are reported electronically.
