President meets media heads today

DUSHANBE, December 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon is meeting with heads of media today afternoon, according to president’s executive office.

Heads of news agencies, editors of republican newspapers and magazines as well as directors of TV and radio stations have been invited to the meeting, the source said.

According to experts, issues related to the freedom of speech situation in the country, construction of the Roghun hydroelectricity power plant (HPP), purchase of shares in Roghun, as well as the upcoming 50th anniversary of Tajik Journalists’ Union, which will be marked in 20010, are among major topics of the meeting.
