From April 20 to 25, 2026, the European Immunization Week is taking place in Tajikistan — an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of vaccination. The initiative is being implemented with the support of the World Health Organization and international partners.
An official source within the Republican Immunoprophylaxis Center told Asia-Plus that this year the campaign is held under the slogan: “Vaccines work for every generation!”
The main goal of the initiative is to raise public awareness about the importance of vaccination for health protection at all stages of life. It is emphasized that immunization is necessary not only for children but also for adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
The source also noted that the country maintains a high coverage rate of basic vaccinations — over 90%, including vaccines against polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and the pentavalent vaccine.
An important achievement was the inclusion of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in the National Immunization Calendar in October 2025.
It should be noted that from April 1 to 30, HPV vaccination for 10-year-old girls is being conducted in Tajikistan.
As part of the European Immunization Week, informational and educational activities are being conducted across the country to increase trust in vaccination and combat misinformation. Immunization rooms are also operating in clinics.
The Ministry of Health urges parents, educators, medical workers, and public organizations to support the campaign and spread accurate information about the benefits of vaccines.
