Tajik capital hosts forum “Digital Youth of Central Asia” on Dec 5-6

DUSHANBE, December 4, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A regional forum entitle “Digital Youth of Central will take place in Dushanbe from December 5-6.

Organized by the public foundation, Center for Information Communication Technologies, under support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan), the World Bank and the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, the forum is dedicated to promote development of inter-region ties between youth of Tajikistan and other Central Asia’s countries for an active use of information communication technologies (ITC) to solve socioeconomic problems.

According to the OSI/AF-Tajikistan, the forum is establishing a platform for discussing establishment of the community of digital youth of Central Asia, promoting innovative ideas and projects with further cooperation of the forum participants on implementation of them.  “Ideas and proposals that will be voiced at the meeting will be foundation for formation of proposals for the government and creation of the Charter of Citizen in the Digital Age,” the source said, noting that a “fair of ideas” will be held on sidelines of the forum.

The “fair of ideas” will give an opportunity to potential donors, sponsors, employers and other interested structures to get acquainted with the most promising projects of the forum participants, the source noted.

The forum participants include representatives of youth from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as well as representatives of ministries and organizations, diplomatic missions, international organizations and NGOS, university chancellors, leading Internet and cellular communications providers of Tajikistan, etc.
