In the city of Hisor, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 (GPW of 1941-1945), Rajab Ismonov, passed away on April 27 at the age of 100. This was reported on the page of the executive body of the state authority of the city of Hisor.
Rajab Ismonov was born on October 5, 1926, in the village of Hayoti Nav, Hisor district. In 1944, at the age of 18, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of the former USSR and participated in GPW of 1941-1945.
He participated in the battles for the liberation of Ukraine and Poland, and met Victory Day in Berlin.
After the war ended, Ismonov returned to his homeland and worked as a brigade leader for 25 years in the “50 Years of October” collective farm in Hisor until his retirement.
For his merits, he was awarded orders, medals, and state honorary certificates.
The executive body of the state authority of the city of Hisor, the War and Labor Veterans’ Council, and other organizations expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
According to Asia-Plus data as of April 21, 2026, only 10 participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 remained in Tajikistan. After Ismonov’s death, their number was reduced to 9.
In Dushanbe, one veteran resides — Bozor Naghzibekov. In the Sughd province, two veterans remain — Nozim Nosirov and Bibola Ruzimatov.
In the Khatlon province, there are six veterans: Safarali Fayzaliyev, Mashrab Davlatov, Gulmurod Taghoyev, Mirzo Ghafourov, Habib Safarov, and Yahyo Mirzoyev.
As of May last year, there were 17 veterans in the country.
More than 300,000 residents of Tajikistan reportedly took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and 92,000 of them died in battle. 55 of residents of Tajikistan were given the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Besides, 15 other Tajikistan’s residents were Full Holders of the Order of Glory.
