In Tajikistan, another veteran of the Great Patriotic War passed away at the age of 101

One more veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 (GPW of 1941-1945), Mirzo Ghafourov, who lived in the Khuroson district of the Khatlon province, has passed away. He died on the afternoon of April 30 at the age of 101. He was buried the same evening. This was reported to Asia-Plus by the Council of War and Labor Veterans of Tajikistan.

The Council noted that the veteran’s death was caused by an illness.

According to the source, Mirzo Ghafourov was drafted into the war in 1944, participated in the liberation of Romania, Bulgaria, and Germany, and returned to his homeland in 1950.

For some time, Ghafourov headed the Council of War and Labor Veterans of the Khuroson district.

As of today, there are only 8 veterans of the Great Patriotic War left in Tajikistan. Two weeks ago, on April 21, 2026, there were 10.

In addition to Mirzo Ghafourov, another veteran of the GPW of 1941-1945, Rajab Ismonov from Hisor, also did not live to see the upcoming Victory Day: he passed away on April 27 at the age of 100.
