DUSHANBE, November 18, 2009, Asia-Plus  – Iran’s exhibition will be held at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe from November 23-27 this year.

Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ali-Asghar Sherdoust, told reporters in Dushanbe on November 17 that more than 60 companies from 12 provinces of Iran are expected to take part in the exhibition.  Among them are companies producing energy-saving light bulbs, tourist firms, etc.  They will put on display their achievements in food, mining, and energy industries as well as tourism and relevant industries.

“The exhibition will promote development of private sector in Tajikistan,” said Sherdoust, “Over the last one and half years, more than 10 Iranian exhibitions and fairs have been held in Tajikistan.”

According to him, a two-way trade between Iran and Tajikistan last year valued at 250 million U.S. dollars.

Speaking to reporters, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Sharif Said, noted that the upcoming exhibition would be one of largest Iranian exhibitions in Tajikistan.  The main objective of the exhibition is in promoting further expansion of bilateral socioeconomic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.

“We are sure the exhibition will promote the launch of new Tajik-Iranian joint ventures and attraction of new investments for Tajikistan’s economy,” said the CCI head.  “I am sure a number of cooperation documents will be signed between Tajik and Iranian companies on sidelines of the exhibition.”
