Visiting British MPs familiarize themselves with activity of Tajikistan’s CCER

DUSHANBE, November 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday November 14, visiting British parliamentary group held talks with Mirzoali Boltuyev, the head of Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER).

The chief of the CCER staff, Muhibulloh Dodojonov, told Asia-Plus today that the sides discussed issues related to preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Tajikistan due in February 2010.  “In the course of the talks, Boltuyev informed members of the British parliamentary delegation of activities of the CCER and its interaction with political parties,” Dodojonov said.

According to him, the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Trevor Moore, who also attended the meeting, noted that his country was ready to finance holding of training seminar on Tajikistan’s election legislation for members of electoral commissions.  The British side also expressed readiness to finance conducting public opinion polls and surveys on the parliamentary elections among various sections of Tajikistan’s population, the CCER official noted.
