DUSHANBE, November 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — Director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) Rustam Nazarov met with visiting expert from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Hayder Mili in Dushanbe on November 4.
On the purpose of his visit to Tajikistan, Hayder Mili said that to study the drug situation in Central Asia the UNODC was implementing a special Afghan Opiate Trade Program, according to the DCA press service.
Tajik drug control chief informed Mr. Mili of the drug situation in Tajikistan, measures taken by the Tajik government to fight drug trafficking and cooperation of Tajik law enforcement authorities with special services of Afghanistan in combating drug trafficking.
During his stay in Tajikistan, the UNODC expert is scheduled to hold talks with senior representatives from the ministry of interior, national security committee, customs and border services as well as to visit one of sections of Tajikistan’s national border.
