Mukhimjon Rahmonov, a teacher at School No. 1 in the Nurobod district, who claims that he was beaten by the brother of a 5th-grade student, spoke about the incident to Asia-Plus. Rahmonov teaches history and law at this school.
The incident occurred on May 8, but it only became known to the public on May 22. It sparked widespread discussions on social networks, with people demanding the attacker be punished.
Almost three weeks after the incident, on May 25, Mukhimjon Rahmonov spoke about what happened.
The teacher was threatened with murder
He confirmed that on the evening of May 8, the brother of one of his students beat him and threatened to kill him after a remark about his sister’s academic performance.
“I called Mirali Orzuyev, the brother of one of my students, and told him that his sister was not responding in class, and she had no grades in the journal. He replied, ‘My sister? We’ll sort it out in the evening.’
After classes, I returned home and then went to the market. On my way back, an unknown number called me. I asked, ‘Who is it?’ He replied, ‘You’ll find out if you come closer.’
A car approached, someone opened the door, began insulting me, and dragged me inside. It was Mirali Orzuyev.”
According to Rahmonov, Orzuyev grabbed him by the ear and began punching him in the lower back and abdomen.
According to him, the driver of the car, in which the attacker arrived, did not intervene during the beating, only warning Orzuyev at the end, “Don’t hit him, or you’ll kill someone else’s child.” The teacher named the driver as Bakhtovar Saidulloyev and said that he is a public servant.
These statements could not be confirmed from other sources. Mirali Orzuyev refused to comment on the situation for Asia-Plus. Upon hearing our journalist’s name, he hung up the phone and did not answer calls anymore. We were also unable to contact Bakhtovar Saidulloyev.
However, Radio Ozodi, citing Mirali Orzuyev, wrote that he “did not beat the teacher but just talked to him.”
Mukhimjon Rahmonov stated that after the incident, on May 11, he reported what happened to the director of School No. 1, Saidrahmon Doronov. However, according to him, the student’s father began threatening him in a phone conversation with the director.
Moreover, on May 14, this incident was discussed at the school with the participation of the first deputy chairman of the district and the head of the education department.

“The investigation is conducted objectively”
Mustafa Dustov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department in the Mehrobod jamoat of the Nurobod district, briefly informed Asia-Plus on May 25 that the teacher’s appeal is being reviewed, but “no decision regarding Mirali Orzuyev has been made yet.”
The prosecutor’s office of the Nurobod district had previously stated that it was investigating the case. Our attempts to obtain more detailed information from this agency were unsuccessful.
The Ministry of Education and Science informed Asia-Plus that “the case is under the minister’s control, and the teacher’s medical expenses are fully covered by the ministry.”

“My head hurts, my ribs are burning”
Meanwhile, Mukhimjon Rahmonov complains about the consequences of the beating. According to him, in the early days, he felt pain and burning, and on the evening of May 15, he lost consciousness at home.
Rahmonov emphasized that representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the district education department, and the district trade union visited him and promised assistance.
The beating of the teacher in Nurobod caused a wide resonance on social networks. Users demanded that the authorities punish the person who beat the teacher.
Conflicts and disputes between teachers and students in schools in Tajikistan have repeatedly become public knowledge. Just last year, the media reported four similar cases — one in the city of Levakand, one in Bokhtar, and two in the Khovaling district.
