DUSHANBE, August 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  — State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were the focus of a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Kadyrbek Sarbayev that was held in Dushanbe yesterday afternoon.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting with President Rahmon, Kyrgyz minister said that he had informed the Tajik leader of the results of the first session of the council of foreign ministers of the two countries.  He, in particular, told President Rahmon that the agenda of the upcoming first session of the High Interstate Coordination Council of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan had been prepared.

“We discussed where the first session of the High Interstate Council will be held,” said Sarbayev, “The meeting is expected to take place this year.”

According to him, during the first session of the council of foreign ministers of the two countries they reached an agreement to hold the next ninth session of the Tajik-Kyrgyz economic commission in the Kyrgyz city of Osh from September 29-30 this year.

Asked whether the border delineation issues were discussed at the session, Kyrgyz minister said that those issues had not been discussed.  “Working groups are continuing to work and there are no any political aspects that would require discussion at any higher level,” Sarbayev said.
