DUSHANBE, July 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Outgoing Ambassador of Belgium to Tajikistan with residence in Kazakhstan, Mr. Christian Meerschman, conferred here Monday with Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan, according to the MA information department.

In the course of the talks, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Belgium in different fields as well as cooperation within international organizations.

The sides noted that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Belgium in February this year and working visit of Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy to Tajikistan last May had paved the way for further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Zarifi expressed gratitude to Christian Meerschman for fruitful work to promote expansion of bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Belgium.
