 DUSHANBE, January 20, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Czech company, Technoexport, will finance the project for rehabilitation of the 240 MW Sarband hydropower plant located in southern Tajikistan, according to the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).

The source says an estimated budget for rehabilitation of the Sarband hydropower plant is 65 million U.S. dollars.  “Resources of the Sarband station have become exhausted and it needs urgent rehabilitation,” he said, noting that modernization will raise the station’s capacity.

The Sarband power plant rehabilitation project is expected to be finished until 2012.
