Tajik finance minister, IMF staff mission head discuss cooperation prospects

DUSHANBE, February 25, 2011, Asia-Plus  — State and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were discussed here on February 23 at a meeting of senior representatives of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) with the IMF staff mission, led by Todd Schneider, according to the MoF press service.

Mr. Schneider voiced his opinion on implementation of macroeconomic indices and fiscal policy of the country.

Tajik Finance Minister Safarali Najmiddinov, for his part, noted that considerable progress has been made in economic development of the country throughout the whole period of cooperation with the Fund.

Tajikistan’s tax policy, external debt service and Tajikistan’s cooperation with other international financial institutions were also among major topics of the meeting, the source said.
