DUSHANBE, March 16, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Communists are ready to participate in elections of any level but we want elections to be really transparent and fair but not dummy, the Communist Party (CPT) leader Shodi Shabdolov told Asia-Plus, answering the question whether Communists will participate in by-election in Dushanbe’s constituency # 4 (Sino dsitrict) set for May 15.

“Communists may nominate their candidate only on the condition that our representatives will be allowed to work with polling stations,” the CPT leader noted.

According to him, the results of the 2010 parliamentary elections have shown it is easy to falsify election results without participation of representatives of all political parties in work of the polling stations.

“I plan to meet with Communists in Dushanbe’s Sino district on Saturday and we will decide whether we will nominate our candidate for this by-election or not,” Shabdolov said.

The by-election will be called following appointment of Shermuhammad Shohiyon who formerly represented this constituency in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) as chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER).

79 polling stations will be set up in this constituency that numbers some 100,000 voters.
