KHUJNAD, March 17, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Limited liability company, Khoki Zarin (largest brickworks in Sughd province), is expected to resume operations in late March.

Located in Ghonchi district, the brick-making plant has not been in operation since last November due to acute power shortages.

The plant director Marouf Hakimov says frequent voltage surges in the mains have damaged several electric motors at the plant.  “We plan to resume operations in late March” he noted.

“The brick-making is a power-intensive industry.  We need electrical power for presses, production line, brick-kiln ventilation system and water discharge pumps,” said the director, “In 2010, the enterprise operated from April through November and 47 persons working with the plant produced more than 1.8 million bricks.”

The brick-making plant in Ghonchi was founded by the limited liability company, Bunyod.
