Tajikistan ratifies convention for avoidance of double taxation with Iran

Date:

DUSHANBE, April 21, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday April 21, The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) ratified a convention between the governments of Tajikistan and Iran for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

Presenting the document, Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov noted that Iran was one of reliable and main trade partners of Tajikistan and ratification of the document would allow removing “superfluous obstacles in the way of movement of investments, trade and services.”

“In 2010, a two-way trade between our countries exceeded 200 million U.S. dollars and we expect it to exceed 300 million U.S. dollars this year,” the minister said.

MPs also endorsed amendments to the country’s registration service law (state registration of acts of civil status).  Under these amendments, registry offices are withdrawn from jurisdiction of local authorities and handed over to the Ministry of Justice.
