DUSHANBE, June 20, 2011, Asia-Plus /Avaz Yuldoshev/ — On Monday June 20, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev held a meeting to discuss issues related to preparations for the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence and tackling problems facing municipal economy.

The meeting participants included heads of municipal services, members of the Dushanbe legislature and representatives of media.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says the mayor appreciated journalists’ support for the municipal commission to organize control over public transport traffic.

The mayor also reportedly offered to get representatives of media involved in the preliminary verification of municipal programs and reports prepared by the Dushanbe legislature in order to provide transparency of them.

The meeting also discussed the issues of providing local bazaars with basic food products at reasonable prices, the spokesman said.
