Tajik, Kyrgyz law enforcement authorities meet in Isfara

ISFARA/KHUJAND, June 22, 2011, Asia-Plus — Ways to settle arising local border conflicts and coordination and interaction between police stations of border districts of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in abating tension in the border areas were discussed at a meeting of law enforcement authorities of Tajik Sughd province and Kyrgyz Batken region that took place in the Tajik northern city of Isfara on June 21.

Firouz Boqi, a spokesman for the Sughd police directorate, says the meeting took place on an initiative of the Sughd police directorate.

The meeting participants included senior representatives from police stations of Tajik districts of Isfara, Bobojonghafurov and Jabborrasulov and Kyrgyz districts of Leylek and Batken border districts.  Interaction between policemen of the two countries in preventing border conflicts, jointly fighting crime, providing peace and stability in the border areas and protecting rights and interests of citizens was a major topic of the meeting.

Kyrgyz Deputy Interior Minister, Kursan Asanov, as well as the Sughd police directorate chief Sharif Nazarov and the Batken police directorate chief Jenish Razzaqov also attended the meeting.
