KHUJAND, June 22, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A Kyrgyz national has been detained with a large amount of hashish in Sughd province.

According to the Sughd police directorate, Kyrgyz national Saydullo Sanginov was detained in Spitamen district on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing on June 21.  10 packages containing 9.13 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sanginov under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances or precursors; an investigation is under way.

According to the statistical data from Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Sughd province, local law enforcement authorities have seized 338 kilograms of narcotics over the fist five months of this year.
