DUSHANBE, July 20, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajik state rail company, Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways), has been funding construction of a number of facilities in the country, the Tajik Railways head Amonullo Hukumov told reporters on July 20.

According to him, a total cost of these projects is 150 million U.S. dollars.   “Thus, construction of a new railway link connecting Dushanbe and Qurghon Teppa costs 129 million U.S. dollars,” Hukumov noted.

“Our company is also financing construction of an open-air theatre and choikhona (teahouse) in Dushanbe’s Botanical Gardens on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence,” said the rail company top manager, “Besides, we have been constructing a new building for the Khonaqo railway station, two-storey vacation house in Sarband (Khatlon province) and two-storey vacation house in Shahriston (Sughd province) as well as a 9-storey apartment building in Dushanbe.”     

Tajik Railways also plans to begin constructing a new building for the Dushanbe railway station.  An estimated budget for implementation of this project is 4 million somoni, Hukumov noted.
