DUSHANBE, August 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Competent specialists but not ministers and heads of agencies should have been included in the Council for Food Security, Dr. Hojimuhammad Umarov, expert on the Tajik economy, told Asia-Plus today.

“Our ministers have been attending councils of all kinds and have been doing nothing so far,” said Umarov, “Skilled specialists and experts who are well-aware of economic problems facing te country should have bee included in the newly established council.”

Professor Umarov, however, hails the establishment of the Council for Food Security.  According to him,  the Council must analyze annual requirements of the population and resources the country now has as soon as possible.  “An efficiency of work of the Council will depend on professionalism of its members,” Umarov added.  

By government’s decree of July 29 the Council for Food Security was established.  The council members include heads of relevant ministries and agencies and it will be headed by Prime Minister Oqil
