DUSHANBE, September 16, 2011, Asia-Plus — Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan, Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, yesterday met here with Ms. Tuula Yrjola, Finnish Roving Ambassador for Central Asia (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan).
The DCA press center reports the sides, in particular, discussed the process of implementation of the project, Equality before the Law – Path to Justice in Central Asia.
Tajik drug control chief informed the Finnish diplomat of the drug situation briefed in Tajikistan and the Central Asian region as a whole, as well as activities of Tajik law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking.
Ms. Yrjola highly appraised cooperation between Finland and Tajikistan on legal issues, including protection of human rights.
The sides expressed hope for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Finland on combating drug trafficking, the source said.
Ms. Tuula Yrjola was appointed to serve as Roving Ambassador to Tajikistan in February 2010. Roving ambassadors are non-resident envoys based at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki.
