Azizah editor meets IRP female activists



DUSHANBE, October 5, 2011, Asia-Plus — Ms. Tayyibah Taylor, publisher and editor-in-chief of

Azizah

, the magazine for the Muslim American women, today visited the headquarters of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) in Dushanbe.

According to the IRP’s head office, Ms. Taylor was interested in issues related to participation of young members of the party in the political life of the country, sport activities.

The IRP female activists, Ms. Bibisoro Kabiri and Ms. Zarafo Rahmoni, reportedly told her of role of woman in Tajik society and noted that one of priorities of the Islamic Revival Party was in fostering a young generation in the spirit of patriotism and love to the homeland.

“In the course of the talks, Ms. Zarafo Rahmoni noted that instances of infringing upon rights of female believers have been observed in Tajikistan lately,” the source added.

Ms. Taylor also visited the Islamic Institute of Tajikistan in Dushanbe today.  1,839 students, including 283 girls, are currently studying at the Islamic Institute of Tajikistan.

The first magazine of its kind,

team was thrilled to receive the 2009 New America Media Award for Environmental Journalism and to be named a finalist for the 2010 FOLIO Eddie Award in the Religion and Spirituality category.
