DUSHANBE, October 13, 2011, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday October 12, Mr. Hiroyuki Imanashi, Ambassador, Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe and Mr. Foteh Aminov, chairman of Baljuvon district, Khatlon province signed a grant contract for “The Project for Reconstruction of Secondary School No.10 in Sari Mazor Village, Baljuvon District.”

According Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, the Government of Japan in the framework of Grant Assistance for the Grass–roots Human Security Projects (GGP) allocates 111,726US$ for implementation of the project.

School No10 in Sari Mazor village in Baljuvon district was established by the local community in 1986.  Due to aging of the building and improper construction, water leakage has occurred and cracks have appeared on the floor.  Moreover, the student size has already exceeded the capacity of the school. Students from grade 10th and 11th in the village have to attend school in neighbor village.

In the framework of the project, the new school building of six classrooms and two staff rooms will be constructed.  Additionally, school equipment such as desks, chairs and blackboards will be provided.  As a consequence of the project, the new school facility will improve the campus environment and enable all students to study in School No10 in Baljuvon district.

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in developing countries.  GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  Since 1996, GGP has extended more than US$ 20 million for 273 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan.
