DUSHANBE, October 26, 2011, Asia-Plus — Best motion pictures of the International Film Festival, Didor, will be shown in Khujand on October 28-30 in the framework of the project, Echo of Didor, according to the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan.
The project is funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan through the Regional Art and Culture Program, and the “Open Society” Institute Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan.
The overall goal of the Echo of Didor project is to facilitate freedom of expression of cinematographers and film directors, as well as to ensure expansion of social participation of the festival to all regions of the country.
The program of the Echo provides for meetings of the audience with cinematographers of Tajikistan before each show.
The films will be shown in Khujand, Youth Center named after Loiq Sherali. The program of the show includes 9 full-length and 10 short-length films, among which are “True noon” (Tajikistan), “Angel on the right” (France/Tajikistan), “Yurt” (Uzbekistan), “Song of southern seas” (Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan/Russia/Germany), “Fortieth door” (Azerbaijan), “Way with no return” (Afghanistan), “Above sea level” (Georgia).
IFF Didor is organized by the Public Organization “Didor” and the Union of Cinematographers of Tajikistan since 2004, and films from various countries, such as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Russia and Kazakhstan have participated ever since.
“Echo of Didor” is a cultural event and the start of the new trend of IFF in the country regions. Before coming to Khujand, “Echo of Didor” was organized in Khorog on October 11-13 at the Theater of Musical comedy named after M. Nazarov. Within the three days the event brought together over 2000 spectators who not only enjoyed the films, but were also offered evenings with culture figures and intelligentsia of Khorog, with participation of musicians and performers.
