DUSHANBE, December 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan has signed a double taxation avoidance agreement with India.

According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income was singed in New Delhi, India last week.  On behalf of the Government of Tajikistan, the agreement signed by Deputy Finance Minister, Jamshed Norinov.

The source at a MoF said that speaking at the agreement-signing ceremony, Norinov noted that Tajikistan is expanding cooperation with foreign countries and international financial organizations and expressed confidence that the agreement would provide further impetus to the economic ties between Tajikistan and India by facilitating mutual economic cooperation as well as stimulating the flow of investment, technology and services between the two countries
