IRP leader meets with secretary-general of ICIA in Tehran

DUSHANBE, October 31, 2011, Asia-Plus  — On Sunday October 30, leader of the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRP) Muhiddin Kabiri reportedly met in Tehran, Iran with Iranian ex-Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, who is now Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for International Affairs also Secretary-General of the International Conference on Islamic Awakening (ICIA).

According to information posted on the IRP’s website, Kabiri and Velayati discussed issues related to use of potential of the International Conference on Islamic Awakening for protection of rights of Muslims.

Muhiddin Kabiri is a member of the international advisory board of the International Conference on Islamic Awakening.

We will recall that the First International Conference on Islamic Awakening that brought together more than 600 delegates from 80 countries took place in Tehran on September 17-18.  The conference created a permanent secretariat headed by former Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, as well as an international advisory board to monitor unfolding developments.
