DUSHANBE, December 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan is developing scientific and cultural ties with China.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Beijing, issues related to increasing the number of scholarships for Tajik students studying at universities in China were a major topic of Tajik ambassador’s discussions with heads of Chinese higher educational institutions based in Beijing.  During those talks, Rashid Olimov noted that educational cooperation between Tajikistan and China and was an important component of Tajik-Chinese relations in the humanitarian sphere.

More than 60 Tajik students currently study at universities in China and their numbers are expected to double next year.
