DUSHANBE, December 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The German Agro Action (GAA) is expected to launch the project, Efficient Use of Energy in Households and Use of Renewable Energy Sources in the Zarafshon Valley, in January 2009.

According to Dushanbe Office of the European Commission Delegation in Tajikistan, the project, which is launched in the frames of the European Commissions’ Environment and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources Including Energy Thematic Program (ENRTP), aims to promote improvement of living conditions of the vulnerable sections of the population in two districts of the Zarafshon Valley (Ayni and Kuhistoni Mastchoh) through promoting and supporting activity, focusing on management of natural and energy resources.

The project is aimed at solving this issue through promoting efficient utilization of various fuel materials and use of renewable energy sources at the level of households, communities and districts.  A total cost of the project that will last till late June 2011 is 805,255 euros.
