QURGHON TEPPA, December 13, 2011, Asia-Plus — A new tuberculosis hospital will be put in commission in the Vose district, Khatlon province in the near future, the Khatlon TB Prevention Center director Suhrob Kamolov said.
According to him, the hospital, intended for several districts of the Kulob region, is provided with state-of-the-arts medical equipment.
“Similar hospitals are being constructed in the Panj and Shahritous districts,” said Kamolov. “A similar center was put in commission in the Jomi district last month and the construction of the regional TB hospital under financial support of international organizations is under way in the city of Qurghon Teppa, the administrative center of the Khatlon province.”
According to the statistical data from the Khatlon TB Prevention Center, 2,476 new cases of tuberculosis have been detected in the province since the beginning of this year; of them, 276 cases have been detected among labor migrants that have returned from Russia. In all, 4,500 TB sufferers have been registered in Khatlon province to date.
